Chicken, Pom Poms, and Crew Chiefs

Chicken, pom poms, and Crew Chiefs... three things that don't seem to have anything in common. But in this case, there is a connection.  The one type of recipe that I am always looking for is good chicken recipes.  So when a particular mischievous friend of mine made a suggestion, of course I had to try it.  The mischievous one is pretty reliable when it comes to good suggestions.  It was called cinnamon chicken.  I had never heard of it but I was willing to give it a try.

I did a quick search and discovered this version.  It was fairly simple to make and came out juicy and flavourful.  So it is a definite keeper for the recipe file. The blog it came from is called The Kitchen Life of a Navy Wife.  So far I have seen some pretty good recipes in it that will need to be tried.  Sadly it didn't occur to me to take a picture of the chicken once complete... a fact that was pointed out by the mischievous one.  I tried to do the "sad puppy dog look" but... it was a failure.  Apparently the "sad puppy dog" look doesn't work on him.  Oh well.  I'll try to remember to take pictures next time.

Now on to the pom poms...  This goes back to a hat that I was knitting at the moment.  It was inspired by a certain Wolfe Boy aka Paul Wolfe, the Crew Chief of the #2 Miller Lite team.  I mentioned that I was making the pom pom for the top of it and that very same mischievous one may have mentioned a fondness for pompoms... especially with cheerleaders.  So of course I had to see what I could do to get my hands on a set of pom poms.  This turned out easier than I thought.  Of course the colour of the pom poms came into question and I went with Royal Blue as it was my high school colour.

A few days after that, I had in my position the perfect colour of pom poms that both Crew Chiefs would approve.  The colour wouldn't show any favoritism towards either and there was less chance to make one of them sad.  A sad Crew Chief would not be a good thing.  One of them has the most heartbreaking sad puppy dog look that makes me want to give him whatever he wanted just to get him to smile.  The other one has a lost puppy dog look that makes me want to protect him from the big bad world.  Yeah, I'm weird.  It's part of my charm.
